On 22 September 2014, the State Office of Industrial Property of the Republic of Macedonia signed a Cooperation Agreement with the OHIM

The State Office of Industrial Property attended the 54th  session of the General Assembly of the World Intellectual Property Organization held at the organization’s headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland.

During the holding of the Assembly, precisely on 22 September 2014, the State Office of Industrial Property of the Republic of Macedonia signed a Cooperation Agreement with the Office for Harmonization in the Internal Market based in Alicante, Spain. Thus, Republic of Macedonia is included in the harmonized system of this European organization that regulates the protection of trademarks and industrial design. Given that Republic of Macedonia is not a member of the European Union, it is only partially connected to this organization, in a manner that will contribute to the simpler acquisition when it comes to these industrial property rights.

During theIt is expected that as a result of the cooperation, the capacity of the Office to work in that field will improve,  by attending the systematized training sessions,  offered by the Organization, sharing the registers of protected and registered rights by both institutions and participation in joint projects that will provide simplification of procedures on recognition of the rights and improving and simplification of the access to information relating to the system of protection of the right of trademark and industrial design.
